In a move to raise the local standards of designers and practitioners in computer aided design and visualization systems, Autodesk Inc. (Autodesk) and the Industrial Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (IC PolyU) announce the launch of Hong Kong's first authorized "Autodesk Certified Specialist" assessment and certification scheme on 10 May, 2002.
With collaboration between the industry leading Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems provider, Autodesk, and the tertiary education institution, PolyU, renowned for practical application, this scheme aims to set up an industry standard for designers and practitioners utilizing Autodesk CAD solutions (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Viz). Louis Chu, Associate Director, IC PolyU, furthers his visionary integrated learning approach in holistic tertiary education to the industry. Louis long advocates the importance of proper Computer Aided Design (CAD) education and practice to exploit the potential of these enabling technologies. Without a healthy environment to nurture practitioners' fundamental concepts and technical competence, industry's investments in CAD systems cannot be fully utilized.
