There are three disciplines in this assessment and certification scheme, each "Autodesk Certified Specialist" certification targets at assessing candidates' competence and in-depth knowledge in a specific software system and industry.
Obtaining all three certifications requires cross disciplinary comprehensive competence in various computer aided design (CAD) and visualization systems from Autodesk.

The three "Autodesk Certified Specialist" certifications are :
- Autodesk Certified Specialist (AutoCAD)
- Autodesk Certified Specialist (Autodesk Inventor)
- Autodesk Certified Specialist (Autodesk Viz)
These cover CAD solutions for 2D drawing production and management, 3D engineering design and modeling, and visualization and animation respectively.
Candidates will be awarded a "Autodesk Certified Specialist" certification if they meet the requirements of the corresponding discipline. The certification is issued jointly by Autodesk Far East Ltd. and the Industrial Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
The assessment and certification scheme is open for public application. Interested individuals may enroll in a training course offered by the Industrial Centre in PolyU leading to the assessment. Alternatively, experienced practitioners may refer to the syllabus and sit for the assessment directly. The first assessment is scheduled in August 2002, which will typically be organized twice a year.
